Impact of US-China Tariff Negotiation Results on China's Modified Exhaust Pipe Export Market

2025-05-13

On May 12, the US and China released the "Joint Statement of the Geneva Economic and Trade Talks between China and the United States", reaching a significant consensus on tariff adjustments. The US will reduce tariffs on Chinese goods from 145% to 30%, with 24% suspended for 90 days and 10% retained. This outcome is bound to have a profound impact on China's modified exhaust pipe export market.

In the past, high US tariffs have seriously affected the competitiveness of Chinese modified exhaust pipesin the US market. The price increase caused by tariffs has weakened the price advantage that Chinese products once had, leading to a decline in market share. However, with the implementation of the new tariff agreement, the cost burden on Chinese exporters will be significantly alleviated. Chinese modified Exhaust Pipes will regain their price competitiveness to a certain extent, making them more attractive to US consumers.

The improvement in cost competitiveness is expected to stimulate an increase in demand for Chinese modified exhaust pipes in the US market. American aftermarket distributors and consumers may increase their purchases, which will directly boost the sales volume of Chinese exporters. In response to this, Chinese manufacturers may consider expanding production capacity to meet the growing market demand.

Nevertheless, the 10% retained tariff still poses a certain cost factor, and the 90 - day suspension period of 24% tariff brings some uncertainty. In the long run, Chinese enterprises should not only rely on price advantages but also focus on enhancing product quality and innovation to build brand competitiveness and further consolidate and expand the US market share.
